About Us

Pack 112 is located in Batavia, IL. However, membership is not restricted by where the boys live or attend school – we have scouts who live in Batavia, North Aurora, Aurora and other localities.

Our chartering organization is Batavia Overseas Post 1197 VFW.

Pack 112 is in the Ottawa District of the Three Fires council of Scouting America.

Many of the scouts from pack 112 attend Louise White School (LWS) and Holy Cross Catholic School but there are scouts from other schools in and around Batavia in the pack.

How does the pack communicate with parents and guardians?

We use this website to post announcements, we send out pack and den emails, and for more immediate communications during events we will also use whatsapp group messaging.

How do I subscribe to the pack calendar?

We use the Scoutbook calendar. Scoutbook can be accessed at https://advancements.scouting.org

  • log in with the account or email address you used to register your child with Scouting.
  • Go to the calendar page
  • Scroll to the bottom to see the calendar URLs to sync our calendar to your calendar app of choice.
  • Make sure to sync the Pack calendar as well as your scout's respective den calendar.
  • Syncing with Google calendar and android phones takes a few more steps. There is a guide in the files page on this webpage on how to do that or google "how to sync calendar URL to google calendar [or android phone]"

How do I get added to the email list?

Let your den leader know you want to receive emails and they will let our webmaster know.

Why is selling popcorn so important?

Selling popcorn is the main fundraiser for the pack. The pack receives about $0.30 for every dollar of popcorn sold. The district and council each receive about $0.20.

The yearly dues paid for each scout only covers a small percentage of our total spending per scout. The pack pays for many different items that the scouts receive, as well as fees and activities:

  • Pinewood derby car kits
  • Pinewood derby trophies
  • Rank patches, arrow points, pins
  • Segment patches
  • Belt loops
  • Proud parent ribbons
  • Overnight activity
  • Hockey game event
  • Spring/Fall Campout
  • Blue & Gold banquet
  • Leader training
  • Registration fees

How can I help?

We welcome and encourage everyone to take an active role in the pack.

Attend a planning meeting and make a suggestion, let us know what we're doing right or what we can improve upon. If you have ideas to share, this is the best forum for discussion.

There are several open opportunities, spanning from a small commitment of time and effort to somewhat larger levels of volunteering:

  • Treasurer
  • Popcorn Kernel
  • Overnight coordinator

Additions to the committee are always welcome.

What is the difference between a class "A" and class "B" uniform?

The class "A" uniform is the more formal uniform and consists of:

  • Navy blue (Lion,Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos) or khaki (Webelos only) dress shirt with properly affixed insignia (council shoulder patch, pack number, den patch, American flag, rank and arrow points, etc.).
  • Rank appropriate neckerchief.
  • Optional rank appropriate neckerchief slide (neckerchief may be knotted instead of using a slide).
  • Optional headgear (Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear or Webelos cap).
  • Optional red "brag vest".

Pack 112 does not require the belt or navy blue pants.

The class "B" uniform is less formal and consists of:

  • The blue T-shirt with Pack112/VFW Post 1197 graphic.

We organize a yearly class B uniform purchase opportunity. Adults may also purchase a class B uniform for themselves.

When should the class "A" be worn vs. the class "B" uniform?

The class A uniform is usually worn for:

  • Pack meetings.
  • Den meetings.
  • Parades.
  • Camp meals.

The class B uniform is usually worn for:

  • Physical activities.

Pack email almost always indicates the required uniform type, but if in doubt, the class A uniform may be worn.
